President’s Message: November 2008

Our outing at Lake Sammamish was interesting and fun.  We cancelled the potluck and stuck just with main business, fishing.  Bob Kemmer’s boat seemed to catch the most fish with hints of where to go constantly coming through the radios.  We had a few boats out and missed the rest of you who couldn’t make it.  Hopefully, we will see you at the next club event.

Speaking of club events, the board would like to announce that we have two in November.

November membership meeting on the 13th will be mainly about elections.  For fun, let’s just make new lures, repair those that the fish got the better of, and share good stories.  I am thinking about bringing a pizza or two to share.  Also we will be finishing up our discussion regarding dues and other important business involving the club.  Our members have an invested interest in the group and this is a necessary meeting to attend since it involves the basic running of the club.  Please attend.  Also, a list of the membership will be passed out to all who attend.

The next couple of months will be interesting for us. December brings the end of the 2008 year for us and our annual Christmas party.  This is a family affair so mark your calendar and plan to attend.  More information will be out before the party on the 11th of December.   January is the Outdoor Sportsman’s Show.  We need help manning the booth and sharing the valuable information you have about fishing for walleye and those lakes in Eastern Washington and locally.  Also, set up and break down assistance will be needed.  More information will be coming soon and hopefully at the November meeting.

Personal Notes:

I have really enjoyed and learned much as president for the past three years but also looking forward to becoming just a member again.  I will  continue to help out as a committee chair in membership and offer computer assistance as needed, but Chris and I are really looking at the prospect of “ just fishing” and learning about new things and places to go without being part of the planning.

For this reason, I encourage other members who have the fishing experience to offer the club to come forward and become part of the board.  You have much to offer and there are members who would benefit from “your expertise and personal assistance”.   Plus, our newer members would learn the inner workings of the club and also the “secrets of fishing” shared at board meetings if you would volunteer as committee chair.  It is your club and you are needed.  Most join because of their interest in fishing and walleyes.  We need to continue the tradition with the assistance of our local experts and wonderful members. Besides, it is interesting and a good time for those involved with the board.
